Add or Update a Pain Event
Return to Introduction  Previous page  Next page

Entering information on the Pain Event Window is a good deal of point, click, drag and drop. We've automated a lot of the data entry for you. We define a pain as a pain event, which may include multiple feelings of pain in multiple areas of the body. For example, you may have experienced a sharp, stabbing pain in your left lower back which migrates and creates a burning sensation down the top of your left thigh.

To summarize how to enter a pain event:
Choose the Body Section that is affected using the drop down box. Body Sections define the larger sections of the body.
Choose the Body Part of that Section that is affected using the second drop down box. Body Parts are the smaller parts of the larger Body Section defined in step 1.
ƒDrag the Body Part from the left side of the window to the center body part box. Click here for more information on How To Drag & Drop. Use the Location Modifier to further elaborate on the location of your pain or if the pain travels.
4.   Enter the date and time of the event.
5.Pain Type Descriptor: click to check an appropriate descriptor of the pain you are experiencing. If you can not find a good description, click the Other button. A descriptor box will appear and you can elaborate on the pain type.
6.Pain Scale: choose a pain level number. Click to view the Pain Scale which describes the levels of pain.
7.Suspected Cause: enter what you think might be a possible cause. For example, an injury of some sort, a chronic condition, reaction to medication, a disease, etc. Use this section to enter other relevant data. This information can be printed and given to a doctor or whoever may be treating you.

For Your Reference - Body Views

There are six available views of the human body for your reference. These may be helpful in understanding or defining a symptom or pain. The views include a skeleton with the appropriate names, the body's main muscle structures front and back, the body's organs and the nervous system.
